Neon Trees

Biography

Tyler Glenn and Chris Allen started out as neighbors but they went on becoming bandmates who tour around the world. Neon Trees officially were formed in 2005 by the duo after they moved to Provo, Utah. Glenn took the band's name after the neon palm trees that he saw while sitting in a restaurant as a child. They initially played with some guys and made some EPs under the moniker but the band did not work.

In 2007, Branden Campbell and Elaine Bradley joined Glenn and Allen. The band raised their flag in Los Angeles but their opportunity came in Las Vegas. The Killers' drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. was watching the band playing in a small club and quickly became impressed. Vannucci Jr. knew Campbell when they were still in the same band. He asked the little-known band to open for the Killers in a number of their North American tour concerts in 2008.

"It really opened a lot of doors," Glenn said in an interview. "A lot of people didn't understand why this little unsigned band from Utah was opening for a big American band. It shook up a lot of people and they wanted to know who we ...

were." Not long after, Neon Trees were signed to Mercury Records with the help of Vannucci Jr.

The band released their first full-length album, "Habits" in March 2010. Its lead single "Animal" reached the kind of success that a fresh band would need. The single debuted at number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100 and climbed up to number 3 in 22 weeks. The band were consequently invited to perform the song in shows such as "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Lopez Tonight".

Neon Trees toured the State with 30 Seconds of Mars, Mutemath and Street Drum Corps in spring 2010 in support of the album and some more dates that summer and fall with other acts. They spent the first half of 2011 touring in North America and the other half working on their second album. They released the first single, called "Everybody Talks", in December that year and released the music video a month after.

"Everybody Talks" managed to enter the top 100 of Hot 100. "Picture Show", the sophomore effort, was released on April 17, 2012 in United States.
